About Client

The Client of this Project is an Entrepreneur from the Middle East who owns and operates a Manufacturing Company. Initially, it was a small scale Company, and so Our Client was able to manage logistics and shipment of the products efficiently. But with time, Our Client’s Business started Scaling up. And with that came the issue of Logistics management. Our Client started facing a lot of problems, especially in terms of product shipments and always had to struggle to find reliable Carrier Companies providing the necessary transportation services.

It was taking up a lot of Our Client’s valuable time and was a cause of inefficiency to the Business. As a solution to this, Our Client tried Out various third party Software systems, but they didn't satisfy all the requirement. This is when Our Client came up with the idea of building a Transportation Management Software suitable for any Business that even for the tiniest bit has to deal with Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Client Idea and Requirements

Our Client’s idea was to build a Software Solution that will help Shippers and Carriers/Transportation service providers to carry out Logistics Management efficiently and seamlessly. What Our Client wanted was a Transportation Management Software that would automate routine processes and workflow of Logistics and using which:

Now Our Client came to know about ChromeInfotech through GITEX, one of the biggest technology exhibition, trade show and conference held annually in Dubai, U.A.E. Impressed by Our work and with Our prior associations with logistics management Projects, Our Client decided to share the idea with Our team. And Looking at How quickly and precisely We understood the idea and vision, Our Client chose to Outsource the Project to ChromeInfotech.

In this Software, we have integrated Google Maps API, which allows Shippers/Users to view and track the location of a truck/driver. Also, this feature helps shippers to conveniently schedule shipments by helping view availability of trucks nearby the Shipper's facility.

With this feature, the Shipper can instantly schedule delivery by filling in required details of the shipment, including:

  • Pickup address

This feature was implemented so that a shipper can create new sub-shippers for different branches and also have the facility to grant users access to certain privileges.

This feature facilitates Carrier Companies to manage any aspect related to their Shipment trucks such as:

  • Adding new vehicles to the fleet
  • Viewing truck details
  • Truck maintenance

And so on

This feature facilitates the registered carrier Companies to keep track of their Earnings.

With this feature, Carrier Companies can efficiently monitor and manage different driver related aspects such as:

  • Adding new drivers
  • Access to Driver details
  • Allocating task to drivers

And so on

This functionality provides carriers the facility to track and monitor their ongoing shipment operations. Also, once completed, carrier Companies can Mark it as completed on which a notification is sent to the Users/Shippers.

Using this feature, Carrier Companies can view all the Services requested by the shippers and has the option to either accept or reject the request. After accepting, they can then allocate a truck/driver to carry out the particular task.

Challenges We Encountered and
Resolved during the Project
Challenge 1: Establishing multi-language support with a consistent User Interface

Our Client wanted the Software to support 3 languages- English, Urdu, and Arabic. The first challenge was that Our team had no prior knowledge about either Arabic or Urdu. The second problem was that unlike English, Arabic, and Urdu scripts are written from right to left. So We needed to build a UI that looks good and remains consistent with Urdu, Arabic, and as well as English.

Our Solution:

To translate scripts from English to the other two languages, We developed Our own Language Interpreter from scratch. This, along with consistent support from Our Client, helped Us to implement Arabic and Urdu into the Software. Regarding the issue of achieving a consistent UI, Our expert developers built a customized design framework which helped Us to eliminate any inconsistencies while accommodating all the 3 languages.

Challenge 2: Sticking to the Timeline

This was a large scale and extensive Project which included the development of 4 different panels for the Software. So one of the challenges was to successfully finish off such a Huge Project within the defined timeline.

Our Solution:

We used Multiple resources for speeding up things. What had a significant impact was Us adopting Agile Methodology. Agile Methodology significantly enhanced Our work efficiency, which ultimately allowed us to stick to the timeline. With Agile, we were able to streamline work into Epics, Stories, and Tasks which helped us to plan every aspect of the development process strategically. Tools such as Zoho and JIRA by Atlassian also played an essential role in helping us deliver the product well within the timeline.

Challenge 3: Establishing Security and Privacy of Business Sensitive Data

This Software is meant to hold information regarding various Shipper and Carrier Businesses. And it is crucial that every data present in the Software is protected from any external threats.

Our Solution:

We employed various Industry Standard Security measures such as:

  • HTTPS
  • Encryption Algorithms- MD5 and salt
  • File Transfer Protocols
  • Encryption of Data

Moreover, to ensure the Privacy of specific data, we implemented features that allow Businesses to define User Security roles such as access or restricted usage for certain data or files.

Challenge 4: Building a Robust and Scalable Software

Every Business venture is started with the ambition of growth and expansion. And this applies to Our Client as well. So We were required to build the Software such that an increased User base in the future would not lead to performance degradation.

Our Solution:

At ChromeInfotech, we house developers who hold experiences of developing Scalable Software Solutions. They designed the architecture such that it could handle increased demands and workload as the business grows. The architecture was reviewed and redesigned multiple times to ensure that it will scale as per Business requirements. Another step that We took was to strategically implement the right set of technologies, including MVC and 3 tier architecture.

As required by Our Client, We at ChromeInfotech were able to successfully deliver an all-rounded POS System that is more than just Billings and Payments. Its wide range of useful features and ease of integration is driving Restaurant Owners to adopt this Software into their Business Ecosystem.

With so many Positive Feedbacks and the Revenues flowing in, Our Client is more than Happy with the Product that We delivered. So much so that Our Client has promised to repeat Business with ChromeInfotech in the near Future.
