Google now recognizing app excellence in its store
Google has very recently announced a new feature in its Play Store that has been brought in by its editorial team. Launched under the name of Android Excellence, the program highlights apps (divided into two categories – Apps and Games) that give superior user experience. Some of the features that make an app reach the Android Excellence list are – technical performance, great design, device optimization, and localization. The selected apps now appear in Google’s Editor Choice column.
Google introduced this right after Apple’s announcement of its ‘overhauled App Store’ – a section that features a new app every day, encouraging new developers and the number of daily visits. Although Google’s feature is more extensive, it will update the Android Excellence section only once in a quarter. While this not an exciting news for the users, the Android app development companies that are known to develop quality apps are going to get a platform to gain visibility for a very long time.
